Pastor Bekezela Kanye

My name is Bekezela Kanye. I a man born in Bulawayo but currently residing in the Midlands city of Kwekwe. Am a banker by training but currently works for a mining engineering company as Operations Manager. Am also a trainee pastor and as well as head of Sound Department at my church. In my city there is massive youth unemployment as a result of closure of industries. Career guidance and mentoring has thus become important in preparing young high school graduates for the future. Under the auspices of a non profit and non denominational Christian movement, i have started a career guidance programme. I approached the city to help us in the programme through identified community programmes. Young high school graduates volunteer for identified community programmes and the programmes identified so far are potholes patching and clean up campaigns. We gather at a designated site everyday in the morning for prayer and briefings on the programmes for the day. During these briefings, high school graduates are addressed by invited professionals, business and community leaders. They touch on various steps in career identification and positioning. Familiarisation tours to companies and other participating organisations have organised to expose these young graduates to real life career situations. Links have been established with businesses and other higher learning institutions to help them in applying for vacancies and further studying opportunities. This programme is aimed at grooming young people and position them for future leadership and career success. Involving them in community programmes will impart a sense of ownership and responsibility. This will also instill Christian values in them and their community as all the programmes are run under the umbrella of various Christian denominations
