I am Johan Fourie, and I have dedicated my life to serving others as a servant leader with a deep understanding of Africa. My journey in full-time ministry began in 1995, and over the years, I’ve come to realize that true leadership isn’t about wielding power—it’s about empowering others. It’s about listening, learning, and walking alongside those you serve. This perspective has shaped not only how I lead but also how I view the world around me. One of the things I’m most passionate about is teaching. Whether it’s sharing biblical truths or helping people understand complex concepts, I find joy in making knowledge accessible and impactful. But my skills aren’t limited to theology; I’m also well-versed in Information Technology (IT), which might seem like an unusual combination for someone in ministry. However, this unique blend allows me to bridge gaps between technology and faith-based work, ensuring that our efforts are both innovative and grounded in purpose. As Chief of Operations at EMIT, I wear many hats, but my primary role is to ensure we operate efficiently and effectively. Day by day, I plan, direct, and oversee operational policies, rules, initiatives, and goals. It’s a responsibility I take seriously because it directly impacts the organization’s ability to fulfill its mission. With vision, judgment, and strong management skills, I help EMIT execute both long-term strategies and short-term directives. Leadership, to me, means being adaptable yet steadfast—always keeping the bigger picture in mind while paying attention to the details that matter. Outside of work, my heart finds rest in my family. I’m married to Marietjie, who is my greatest supporter and partner in life. Together, we’ve built a home filled with love and laughter, and we’re blessed to be raising one child together. Living in Springs, South Africa, gives us a front-row seat to the beauty and challenges of this incredible continent. Every day reminds me why I’m so committed to serving here—Africa is more than just a place; it’s a calling. Through all these roles—as a husband, father, teacher, IT professional, and leader—I strive to live out the values of humility, integrity, and service. These principles guide everything I do, whether I’m leading a team meeting, preparing a lesson, or simply spending time with loved ones. For me, success isn’t measured by titles or accolades but by the lives touched and the positive change brought into the world. And if there’s one thing I hope to leave behind, it’s a legacy of love, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to serving others.
